An “Unannounced” Emergency Drill

Prevention is better than relief
At 14:30 on May 11th, there was a sharp telephone ring in the central control room, “Unit 1 GT air intake filter is on fire, please indicate”. The shift charge immediately start the level-3 emergency response procedure, and patrol operators rushed to the site to check the fire situation.
At 14: 31. The shift charge informed the leader in charge, and the panel operator made a broadcast to the whole plant, and contacted the on-site patrol operator to control the fire.
At 14: 34. After receiving the report of “fire is extended unable to control”, the shift charge started level-2 emergency response and broadcasted it to the whole plant again.
At 14: 36. The firefighting group, rescue group, supporting group and other emergency groups arrived on site, the and under the leader of the emergency response made a command upon those groups. The supporting group held up the warning line; the rescue group prepared stretchers, first-aid boxes and other aid materials; the fire-fighting group puts on fire-fighting clothes, picks up fire extinguishers, sets up fire hoses and carries out fire-fighting actions.
At 14: 50. The fire was under controlled and finally put out.
At 15: 00, the shift charge informed the whole plant to terminate the emergency state through broadcast.
This is an “unannounced” emergency drill, which fully verified the feasibility of the emergency response procedure of the plant and the emergency response ability of personnel; tested the emergency response procedure for fire accidents in the matter of scientific and practicability; and the handling ability of emergency response personnel in the case of sudden fire event.
